But what really intrigues me, of course, is exactly how he managed to unboil an egg. He explains that when an egg is cooked, the protein molecules unroll themselves, link up and enclose the water molecules. In order to ‘uncook’ the egg, you need to detach the protein molecules from each other. By adding a product like sodium borohydride, the egg becomes liquid within three hours. For those who want to try it at home, vitamin C also does the trick.
Gould performs Bach Sunday, August 31, 2008
I feel like this piano is built differently than other pianos – somehow it feels more fluid and malleable. Like a dance-partner made of smoke. I remember the first time I heard a Glen Gould recording and his murmuring was so odd and disturbing. Now it just seems completely natural – I miss it when I don’t hear it in other recordings…
Real Astrology: Pisces Wednesday, August 27, 2008
“The real secret of magic is that the world is made of words,” said the sage Terence McKenna, “and that if you know the words that the world is made of, you can make of it whatever you wish.” I’d go even further and say that you can actually shape your world through your use of language. Do you really want to live amidst infertile chaos where nothing makes sense and no one really loves anyone? Then speak with unconscious carelessness, expressing yourself lazily. Or would you prefer to live in a realm that’s rich with meaning and beauty and interesting mystery? Then be discerning and creative in how you speak, primed to name the novel truths that are always being born right in front of your eyes. Of course you always have the power to create heaven or hell through the words you choose, Pisces, but right now is a potential turning point when you could form good new habits.

This is really beautiful, and I love the way Chinese sounds.
