This has been weighing on my mind heavily the last few weeks, and I feel I must get it off my chest.
I am morally opposed to the interrobang.
A lot of people are in favour of it - they say it removes ambiguity, thereby clarifying meaning and communication. YES - perhaps. But at the price of nuance.
Can you really tell me that you see no discernible difference between:
He said he enjoyed your picnic?!
and
He said he enjoyed your picnic!?
Those are VERY different and if you can’t tell, then I pity you.
That’s all.
