According to my weather internet thing Thursday, November 16, 2006

According to my weather internet thing it is the same temperature in Cairo and in San Francisco: 61 degrees Fahrenheit.

The main difference, I guess, is that in San Francisco it is four in the afternoon and in Cairo it is 2 a.m.

It’s strange having to call a place where you’ve only lived for about a month and a half ‘home’. Technically I am a resident of Egypt, but I’ve only ever been there for about 7 weeks. I never know what to say when people ask me where I’m from. Is it the place I grew up? Where I went to high school? Where I go to college? Where I lived last year? Where I lived over the summer? Where my driver’s licence says? Where I speak the language? Where my family lives?

I usually name whatever country my family is currently living in. I wonder where they will move next!

Toes My Darlings - Jaimie’s sister’s friend Thursday, November 16, 2006

Well - I love my soul
I love my little toes and they love me too, my darlings
Well - we could be friends, we could shake hands, we could be family.

Well - I keep ‘em close, keep ‘em real close, so no one can take them from me.
Can’t sleep much: I gotta wash my family.
They’re gonna love my babies tonight when they’re under the spotlight
They’re gonna love my babies tonight - they’re going to love my babies.
Bahaahahaddadhdah (etc)

Well - it was love at first sight, me and my right arm, we love to play together.
And then there’s my thumb: well he’s a grumpy one, he goes grrrrr to you.
Well - me and my thumb we like to run. We could stay in together
like big stars we’ll shine forever ooh baby
They’re gonna love my babies tonight when they’re under the spotlight.
They’re gonna love my babies tonight - they’re going to love my babies.
Babhahabhahahdhdha (etc)

And they’ll be fine: there’s a lot of time to get up and find where to hide.
Yes a lot of time to find where to hide.
(repeat x 4)
They’re gonna love my babies tonight when they’re under the spotlight.
They’re gonna love my babies tonight - they’re going to love my babies.
Babhahabhahahdhdha (etc)

Packing dream Thursday, November 16, 2006

Filed under: Uncategorized — jhorna @ 9:10 am

I had a dream last night where I was packing to go to Pittsburgh with Megan (we were together wherever we were). We had just gotten back from another trip, and it was 6.10. We had to be at the train station at 6.30 and so I had ten minutes to pack!

I packed my orange corduroy pants, and my orange thermal underwearshirt and my orange mushroom puffy shedding hat and my brown glittery corduroy overalls.

I don’t own any of these articles of clothing except for the orange mushroom puffball shedding hat.
I also tricked Megan (!) and packed my broken digital camera, my computer, the charger for my computer.

I didn’t have time to pack a toothbrush, but I knew that once I got to Egypt I’d get a new head and be able to use their toothbrush.
I packed my brownish pinkish tye-dyedish kimono shirt. I really own that one.
The last thing I grabbed as we were walking out the door was the black and green and gold picasso shirt from Singapore.
