Reshelving reaches new creative heights!
Quote from the blog post:
Have you heard about reshelving?
It’s a quiet movement in which people reshelve books to convey a message. In this example, George Orwell’s 1984 is moved to some non-fiction areas–right next to Bill O’Reilly.
I laughed when I saw this. I have to admit to my own reshelving campaign a few years ago. It seemed like there were more and more newage books that tried to hawk themselves as presenting Native American spiritual beliefs.
Culture vultures. They’d grab a little bit of knowledge, then spin it up into some newage fantasies that disrepected indigenous spiritual practices.
So, when I found newage books shelved in the Native American section, I’d just merrily move ‘em to different places.
There are many ways we can send a message. Quietly.
